One time I went to Sephora and had my skin tested with their “Moisture Meter.” I didn’t even get to hear my result before the woman assisting me said, “Oh, baby…” and ran off to find anything she could put on my skin before it cracked open or burst into flames from lack of hydration. So, all this is to say that my skin is foundationally dehydrated while also being acne-prone. In my very biased opinion, this is the worst skin type because I feel like if I try to fix one problem, the other gets worse.

For the last two weeks, I have been using St. James’s Well’s CBD Cleanser to clean my skin in the morning and then in the evening after I take off my makeup. After only a few days of use, I noticed a serious improvement in my skin and after two weeks this product has become an irrevocable part of my skincare routine.

While I certainly prefer to find skincare products that I adore and can keep coming back to, cleansers have always been sort of interchangeable for me. Prior to finding St. James’s Well I thought that the products that would actually do something to improve my skin where the products I put on after I washed my face (e.g. toner, moisturizer, spot treatment). I now realize, though, that choosing the right cleanser is the key to helping all your other products work at their best.

I like this cleanser because it is the most non-drying formula I have ever encountered. I noticed it’s creaminess the moment it came out of the bottle- for a second I thought I may have accidentally grabbed a lotion sample! The texture of the cleanser is just the beginning. When I started using it I came to realize that it did not lather which, contrary to basically everything we know about washing things, is one of the easiest ways to dry out your skin. When I was done cleansing with this bubble-free, creamy formula my skin had that truly clean feeling without simultaneously feeling tight ( a hallmark of skin that has been dried out).

I was happy to continue using this CBD cleanser simply because of how great my skin felt after use, but after a few days, I was elated to find that it was having a positive impact on my skin’s appearance as well. Turns out, the redness I thought was acne scarring was actually just inflammation that has been soothed by the presence of CBD in this cleanser.
St. James’s Well has rehydrated my scarily dry skin AND removed redness from my face all while feeling and smelling luxurious. This may be a lot to say about a cleanser, but in the last two weeks, I’ve gone from taking this skin care step for granted, to realizing how crucial it is. And I’m never going back!
